Ainshval is a family holiday house in one of the most spectacular positions on the beautiful island of Tiree.
In addition to interesting views of the island, it has uninterrupted views of Rum, Eigg, Canna and the Outer Hebridean chain. The beach known as The Green is only a short walk from the house. Also there is a secluded beach amongst the rocks which is ideal for swimming, bird and seal watching. From the garden corncrakes can regularly be heard (but rarely seen!) and you can also hear seals on the rocks 200M from the house. Basking sharks can easily be seen from the house.

The house was individually designed as a traditional black roof house, but being completed in the year 2000 it has all the conveniences of a modern house – double glazing, good insulation etc ensures that it is not a difficult house to heat (all electric heating).
The good sized garden is fenced and has picnic table and a selection of shrubs It is not overlooked (nearest neighbours 200M) Loch Bhasapol which is used for windsurfing, swimming etc is about a quarter of a mile from the house.
Entrance - with slate floor. Ample space for shoes/coats etc. Custom built pitch pine staircase.
Lounge - Bright comfortable family room with 3 windows, 1 of which faces the sea. TV, DVD player. Bed settee for occasional use. Varnished pitch pine floors.
Kitchen - very functional, good sized, comfortable room with dining table and chairs, 4 windows, 3 of which face the sea. There is also comfortable seating to relax in. Varnished pitch pine floors. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking and baking having a good selection of serving dishes, baking trays, pots (including soup pot) etc and selection of herbs and basic cooking items . Gas hob and electric oven, kettle, toaster, Kitchen Aid food mixer, Breadmaker and dishwasher. Denby dinner set. There is a selection of recipe books. Radio/CD player. This is a great room to gather in, watch the wildlife/sea life, play board games, or just sit round the table and chat or sit quietly and read.
Utility Room - washing machine and freezer and lots of storage space. Golf clubs. 2 sun loungers.
Bathroom - with WC, wash hand basin and separate electric shower and storage. Shaver point. Varnished pitch pine floor.
Bright spacious landing with large window overlooking the island.
Double Bedroom - with 2 windows, both facing the sea. Comfortable double bed, chest of drawers and storage space.
Twin Bedroom - good sized room with 2 comfortable single beds(new quality mattresses 2013). Sea facing window, chest of drawers, wardrobe and storage, TV. Separate sleeping area for 1 person with sea facing window (cabin type bed) A high chair is available.
FACILITIES AND SERVICES
All electric heating. Contribution towards electricity charged at 10p per unit used.
There is a selection of jigsaws, games, books, DVD’s and outdoor games. Golf clubs, 2 boogie boards and surf board (in shed) – please replace any damages or losses!
As the ferry has a very short turn around (less than 1 hour) we do not employ a cleaner and ask that you leave the house as you would expect to find it. This ensures that our guests have access to the house as soon as they arrive on the island which, especially if you have had an early start from Oban, has proven to be very much appreciated. We have found that this system works well and most of our guests return each year.
A deposit of 25% is payable when booking. The balance is due 4 weeks before the start of your holiday along with £100 damage/cleaning/electricity deposit. Payment towards electricity (charged at 10p per unit used) will be deducted from your damage/cleaning/electricity deposit when you provide meter reading. Balance of damage/cleaning/electricity deposit will be refunded within 14 days of the end of your holiday less any deductions for extra cleaning/damages/electricity.
Please note we do not provide towels/sheets/dish towels/duvet covers/pillow slips Should you incur any problems, we have a caretaker on the island. Any problems with the house will be dealt without delay but may be dependent on availability of suitable tradesmen on the island.
DIRECTIONS TO THE HOUSE
Leaving the ferry terminal drive to the first junction and turn right towards Balephetrish. Continue on that road passing Balephetrish Bay and a sign for Cornaig. After Cornaig sign, look out for the crossroads just before the school. Turn right here, pass the telephone box, go over the cattle grid and follow the track to the gate. (Please keep vehicles on the existing tracks and do not drive on the verge) Ainshval is situated on the right just inside the gate. Please leave the gate open/closed as you find it.

The garden is fenced and has picnic table. There is a clothes drying area within the garden. Parking available within garden space.
