Caolas Wee Cottage Back
The cottage is located at the eastern end of Tiree with superb views over Gunna Sound towards the neighbouring Isle of Coll.
There are some stunning sandy beaches only a few minutes walk from the front door. In summer you will often be able to spot pods of Basking Sharks feeding on the plankton rich waters of Gunna Sound (don't worry basking sharks are vegetarian!). If you don't see a basking shark you are guaranteed to be watched very closely by some of the numerous nosey seals who inhabit the rocks nearby. On a clear day you can see out to the outer isles of Barra and the Uists to the west, northwards to Rum, Eigg, Muck and Canna and to the east the hills of Mull and the mainland. It really is an idyllic location.
Lounge - an open plan area with an attractive feature fireplace with an electric stove - exposed ceiling beams gives this room bags of character and a nice cosy, homely feel. There is a flat screen TV and DVD player in this room as well.
Kitchen - the lounge and kitchen are separated by a breakfast bar and the kitchen is well equipped with fridge, cooker, washing machine and a good selection of cooking utensils.
Double Bedroom - with a double bed and ample storage/hanging space for clothes.
Shower Room - with an electric shower (there is no bath in this property - water supplies on Tiree are such that showers are much more efficient in terms of fresh water useage).
FACILITIES AND SERVICES
The property is centrally heated (night storage) and there is an electric fire in the lounge if additional heating is required. Due to the mild climate heating is only really required early/late in the season to take the chill off.
DIRECTIONS TO THE HOUSE
From the ferry follow the signs for Caolas. After passing the community turbine on the right and the turning to Milton on the left, take the sharp right turn. The track to Caolas Cottages is on the left immediately after crossing the first cattle grid.
OUTSIDE SPACE AND PARKING
There is front and rear garden - both fenced. There is a rear door from the kitchen which gives access to a fully enclosed garden area, ideal for enjoying an evening barbeque. In the height of the season you will often hear the corncrakes calling as the farmland to the rear is a designated corncrake site and is managed to encourage these rare and unusual birds.
