Greenhill House Back
Greenhill House - a throughly renovated traditional croft house - is situated behind a wee green hill and just 500 metres from The Maze beach. The house is child and dog friendly.
The house is shown by name on the Ordinance Survey maps of the island and is situated on the west coast between Sandaig and Kilkenneth. It is set back from the road by about 100 metres.
The house is equipped to accommodate 8 persons plus children and comprises of a large live-in kitchen, dining room, sitting room, 2 bathrooms plus cloakroom, 4 bedrooms, rear utility room entrance and front entrance lobby. Attached to the house is a stone built byre with table tennis table.There is a large enclosed garden with new sunken trampoline to the front and side of the property, and a smaller enclosed garden to the rear. Parking is on common ground surrounding the property.
Greenhill House has been fitted throughout with efficient electric radiators, there is a SONOS stereo system in the main reception rooms and SKY TV in the kitchen and living room. in addition to thermostatically controlled electric radiators, both the dining room and living room have open fires.
Kitchen - electric fan assisted oven, 4 ring ceramic hob, full height fridge-freezer, separate wine fridge, all necessary cooking utensils, cutlery, glassware and china. Four Lloyd Loom chairs, four kitchen bar stools (high chair available on request)
Downstairs Bathroom - electric rain shower, WC, washbasin with storage, (nappy bin available on request) Dining room - dining table (seats 8), sideboard, console, open coal fire (with safety guard), trunk with children's toys.
Sitting Room - two 3-seater sofas, two wingback armchairs, coffee table, TV, two bookcases with extensive selection of books, multi-fuel burner.
Double Bedroom 1 - double bed with Egyptian cotton, two sets of bedside drawers, 2 chests of drawers.
Double Bedroom 2 - double bed with Egyptian cotton, two sets of bedside drawers, dressing table, chair, wardrobe.
Front Porch - Hanging space for wet weather gear. Bench storing outdoor toys. Back Porch - Extensive hanging space for wet weather gear and for wellies. Leading to utility.
Utility Space - Washing machine and dryer. Microwave. Butler sink. A baby / dog gate is available for the bottom of the stairs. A fixed baby / dog gate is at the top of the stairs.
Master Bedroom - Super King Bed with Egyptian cotton, 2 sets of bedside drawers, 1 chairs, teak desk and upholstered desk chair, wardrobe (plenty of space for guest's own cot)
Upstairs Bedroom 2 - 2 single beds with Egyptian cotton, 2 bedside drawers, wardrobe, trunk.
Upstairs Bathroom - Rain-shower over bath, washbasin, WC, chair.
Upstairs Cloakroom - WC and electric hot water washbasin.
FACILITIES AND SERVICES
Both reception rooms have open fires. All rooms have thermostatically controlled electric radiators keeping the house warm and dry.
DIRECTIONS TO THE HOUSE
From the pier: On leaving the ferry, drive down the pier and bear to the right to take you away from the pier. At the junction turn left and stay on the road through Scarinish - passing the Bank and Co-op, both on the right. Stay on this road and follow the signs to Crossapol. Stay on this road following signs to Heylipol. After passing a church and loch on the left you will arrive in Sandaig. From the airport: Drive down the airport road and at T junction turn left. At the next T junction turn right. Stay on this road following signs to Heylipol. After passing a church and loch on the left you will arrive in Sandaig. Common Instructions - From Sandaig continue along the road, up a small rise, followed by a cattle grid. You can now see the roof of Greenhill diagonally to the right - behind a small green hill! After the cattle grid the road rises slightly, at the top of the rise turn right onto a pebble track. Greenhill is the first house on the right. You can either pull onto the grass and park by the wall or open the field gate and park in the enclosed grass yard.
OUTSIDE SPACE AND PARKING
Garden: lovely enclosed garden to the front and rear of the house. The rear garden has views to The Maze and the large front garden has a sunken trampoline. Two teak wood reclining sun-loungers with seat-pads plus side table (all stored in byre). The garden to the side of the property, accessed from the kitchen, has a large bonfire fire-pit surrounded by beach stones, with beach seating.
Byre: Large area with pulley for drying wet clothes/wetsuits. Storage for coal, wood, bikes, surfboards etc.
Dogs are welcome to stay in the heated kitchen or utility room, front porch, byre. Dogs are not welcome in the dining room, living room and bedrooms.The garden must be poo picked at the end of your stay.
