A well appointed traditional felt roof house situated in a quiet location at the end of a single track road.

Our pretty, traditional, black house/beach house "Port-na-criche" (pronounced Port-Na-Cree), which we have recently acquired after dreaming of having a house beside the sea for 17 years, had been in the same family for 200 years. We have been visiting Tiree for 20 years and hope you will enjoy this house's fantastic, quiet and exclusive location.

The tariff for the house is approx. £90 (2018) and £98 (2019) per week night plus fees (weekend prices are £10 more per night) .

As a holiday home owner we want to support the local community on Tiree and 5% of your booking cost will be donated by us to the Tiree Community Windfall fund. This house will have BT Unlimited Fibre BB early in the 2018 which is a real bonus as BB can be patchy on Tiree. Whilst this house will appeal to families with one dog at a max. please, it will also be a suitable retreat for couples. It is the perfect size - not too big, not too small. Cosy in all the right places. Birdwatchers, wild-life enthusiasts, Northern Lights seekers, Star-gazers are all welcome! Be aware that your mobile reception may be limited though luckily we can get 4G because of the proximity to Coll. If you have Vodaphone and EE you're fine, otherwise you may need to buy a pay-as-you-go SIM card for your visit. We have BT Infinity Fibre BB.  We have a smart TV which allows you to stream digital channels.  Great for when the weather is passing over our island. When the weather is good (Tiree has a great reputation for being sunny) and you are taking a break from watersports (if that's your thing) you can sit in the pretty front garden and enjoy looking at the wild-life pottering about the beach. Or you may be lucky and see Basking Sharks in the bay!

ACCOMMODATION

GROUND FLOOR

Kitchen/Dining Area - large dining kitchen with peninsula unit which includes all utensils, cutlery, a freezer, microwave, toaster and plenty of work-top space. There is also a large dish-washer, washing-machine, fridge. The large dining table seats 10. There are two storage heaters (one has a boost facility). Living room has seating for 8 and an open fire that can take logs or coal.

Living Room - with windows to the front and rear of the property. This area has seating for 8 people and an open fire that can take logs or coal. 

Double Bedroom - with a double-bed and cot with sea views and views to the rear. It has a wardrobe and chest of drawers. The storage heater has a boost facility.

Family Bathroom - with WC, wash hand basin, bath with an electric shower over the bath.

The hall has a modest under-stairs storage area for shies and coats.

FIRST FLOOR

Double Bedroom - with a double-bed.

Twin bedroom - with twin beds and sea views. Wardrobe and chest of drawers. Storage heater.

Bunk Bedroom - rear ‘dolls-house’ cabin-style bunk-room has 2 bunk-beds and a chest of drawers with views to the rear of the house. Small convector-style wall heater.

Double glazed throughout with storage heaters in all rooms.

FACILITIES AND SERVICES 

There willbe Fibre Broadband in the new year. There is a new smart TV which allows you to view internet channels (bring your fire-stick to view Amazon channels however).   

DIRECTIONS TO THE HOUSE

I will provide your instructions upon booking although if you look at google maps you will see it is at the end of the track as you look out towards the outer hebrides from Balephetrish Bay. The track in front of the property is a no through road which means you will be driving past the nearby farm house. It is a right-hand turn off the B8068 as you drive west and past the turn to Kenovay.

OUTSIDE SPACE AND PARKING

It is right beside Balephetrish Bay and 5 minutes walk along the track to the main beach area. There is space for two medium-sized cars to the side of the house, beside the garden.

RESTRICTIONS

Please respect our neighbours and the livestock and if you have a dog you must keep it on a lead if you are anywhere near the livestock. Please ensure you remove any dog mess from the area and the beach and ensure you take any litter with you and place in the bin which is marked “Port-na-criche” and is a couple of hundred yards away outside the White House.
