The route is in the process of being waymarked and there are parts that remain 'suggested' where respect for livestock must be observed.
The guidebook describes the sites along the route and gives historical backgrounds where relevant. Occasionally there are folk tales connected with places and these are included.
Strong footwear and warm weatherproof clothing is recommended. It would be advisable to arrange your accommodation beforehand. Some hosts would be willing to provide a drop-off and pick-up service.
In all circumstances and locations you must observe the countryside access code.
