Welcome Back

Guidance on Visiting Tiree During Covid-19
Updated 27th November 2020

Along with the rest of the country, our community is beginning to emerge from the lockdown period, and although travel restrictions have been lifted and we are now able to welcome visitors, life here is not quite back to normal. Capacity and regularity on our flights and ferries remain restricted. Information and guidance is changing on an almost weekly basis. We strongly advice that you check and for their latest guidance before you plan to visit.

Read local updates before you visit on This will help you understand the current situation on Tiree before you begin to plan your visit.

As you may be aware there are new regulations which come into law on Friday 25th September 2020
The one household restriction for private homes will also by law apply to self-catering properties,
This includes accomodation such as caravans, flats and holliday cottages, in hotels, bed and breakfasts and similar accomodation, no more than one household should be booked in each room.
Further details and the explanation by Scottish Government are set out in the link below.

The Scottish Government has today published guidelines on the safest way to spend the festive period. It includes a number of FAQs, including the position of tourist accommodation, which should be considered when reviewing bookings over this period.  It also reiterates the general rules for travel into and out of a level three or four area for tourist accommodation. More information can be found here:

Can my bubble stay in tourist accommodation?

During the Christmas period those who are part of a bubble should not stay in tourist accommodation.  Only those not part of a bubble should plan on staying in tourist accommodation and should follow the tourist accommodation, socialising and travel rules in the local authority area you are staying. For example:

  • You should only stay with your own household (or extended household) in self-catering accommodation
  • You must not travel into or out of a level 3 or 4 area for tourist accommodation

We will update this information regularly to include guidance on shopping, which leisure facilities will be open and which services will be available.

By staying safe and informed during your visit you are helping us in this unusual time and playing your part in our communities’ effort to stay safe and to help us rebuild our tourism industry.

Thank you for your co-operation and we look forward to welcoming you.
