2021 VISITOR COMMENTS

“Very well appointed and comfortable.
The short walk to beach across the machair is wonderful. Just so quiet and peaceful.
Wildlife – seals on the rocks when we were there; lots of hares on the machair at night; so many birds feeding on the machair.
Even after a lot of rain we had no problems driving over the machair. The ‘tracks’ are very firm.”
Robert Brook – November 2021

“Lovely stay on Tiree. Great cottage in lovely location with very good views. Nicely decorated and good shed space for storage.
Thank you.”
Kirsten Forbes – October 2021

“We had a very comfortable stay in Machair Cottage so much so my mum has decided to buy a bigger tv and having seen the Tiree glass you display in the house my credit card is a few quid lighter.”
Deirdre Kilmurry – September 2021

“Had a fantastic week on Tiree, helped by the fantastic sunshine.
The one thing that stood out the most for us about Machair Cottage was its location – fabulous views and the most amazing sunsets, situated on its own away from others, yet close enough not to feel isolated. Wonderful! Other features – good wifi (very important to us) and very clean and comfortable. Thank you.
Yes, Machair Cottage met our expectations and we have already recommended the cottage to others.”
Jan Wagstaff – September 2021

“We really enjoyed our stay. I think the best features are the location and the views! Also the amazing weather !
We would definitely recommend Tiree and the cottage”
Suzanne Adams – August 2021

“The cottage is lovely and suits the 4 of us very well.”
Kate Boddington – August 2021

“We loved Tiree and the location of the cottage was absolutely amazing. Very useful info beforehand.
Best features of the cottage: the views and location; wonderful hot shower; felt warm and good space for 5 of us.”
Hattie Hammond-Chambers – August 2021

“After 5 years of not being in Tiree, we hadn’t fully realised how much we missed the tranquility and beauty of the island.
Machair Cottage was the perfect location, with absolutely stunning panoramic views. A well laid out cottage that we would definitely recommend to others. A truly fabulous holiday!”
Lindasy Hewitson – August 2021

“The cottage is in a great location and easy to find so after the long car and ferry journey we had this was great. Loved that the original staircase was kept and you provided some local island info.
Overall we had a great stay on the island and the range of wildlife, even from the cottage, was amazing.”
Rose Brown – July 2021

“We had a fantastic first visit to Tiree!
The cottage was a great base for us to explore the island and our children loved being so close to the beach and the watching the animals. The whole island just had a wonderful relaxing and friendly vibe.
The cottage had everything we needed we for a cosy, comfortable stay from the good range of appliances for a home from home experience, plenty of hot water for a decent shower, plus also helpful to have use of a washing machine after a trip to Lunga. The children loved being able to use the games console (as they don’t have one at home) and also the range of board games to keep them entertained.
We haven’t stopped talking about it and I think that Tiree rates as one of (if not) the best holiday that we have had. As previously explained we have visited most of the islands in the Hebrides and I think for me Tiree has now gone to the top of my list and replaced Harris.
We would definitely recommend Machair cottage to anyone for it’s location, charm and comfort.”
Michael Hymes – July 2021

“We had a lovely stay, the weather was kind to us too.
The cottage is great….no complaints from us!
The location is so handy for the ferry and frequent coop trips! The views were wonderful and having the outside seating area was great bonus, allowing us to enjoy the views and the sun.
The cottage was spotlessly clean with lots of space. The beds are very comfy and the super pressure in the shower was brilliant! The tv and WiFi worked well (haven’t always been great when we’ve visited the island before!) which meant we had a happy 5 year old! All in all, a very enjoyable stay.”
Calum Bruce – July 2021

“We loved staying at Machair cottage. We have young children and they enjoyed lovely surrounding and visiting the beaches.
The cottage is perfect”
David Horsefall – July 2021

“Had an amazing week. Weather was fab. House is amazing.”
Sharon Humble – June 2021

“We’ve had a great time staying in your lovely cottage and are sorry to leave. We’ve had very good weather (most days), lots of sunshine and low winds, but just the taste of drizzle and pretty strong Northerly winds today! So we’ve fared very well.”
Valarie Stokes – June 2021

“Having visited many Scottish Islands, we found Tiree to be surprisingly different and definitely the most pretty island we have been to.
The most striking feature is probably the machair which blankets almost the whole island. The beaches are stunning and a “laid back” feeling permeates everywhere.
An absolute “must” for any island-lover.
Machair Cottage has the best position possible and has terrific “kerb” appeal – a pleasure to stay in.”
Steve Drinkall – June 2021

“We had a lovely time in Tiree. The cottage is in a great location and is also very comfortable.
We particularly liked the super shower, also enjoyed the cottage having a separate dinning area, we spent a lot of time in this room.
We would definitely return and we would also recommend cottage to others.”
Kaye Kinsman – June 2021

“We had a great holiday on Tiree and loved the Tiree Sea Tours, quiet beaches and spectacular wildlife on the island. We loved that you supplied body boards which saved room in the car and the kids loved the Wii set up too!
The cottage was very neat and had spectacular views. I would highly recommend your cottage to others.”
Lowri Williams – May 2021

“We had a lovely stay in your cottage.”
Roisin Higgins – May 2021

“The views from the cottage are perfect.
All aspects of the cottage made the holiday perfect and could not be specific about anything. The location of course in the peace and quiet, apart from the birds and the sheep which we loved, made it a real escape. We would not hesitate on booking your cottage again should we return to Tiree.
Your internet on Tiree works quicker than my one at home in Surrey. I was very impressed.”
Pat Chowler – May 2021

We had a great time in Tiree with fantastic weather.
Great location and shower. We had a great time at the cottage.
Kirstien Hall – September & October 2020

The cottage was very well presented and well equipped, it provided everything we needed during our stay.
On the warmer days we were able to make the most of the location, sitting outside to enjoy the peace and quiet and those wonderful views.
Jan Brown – September 2020

Everything good – fantastic fortnight with only one afternoon of rain. Thanks
Richard Smith - August 2020

So glad we managed to get to Tiree and totally chilled out for the two weeks. Been to Tiree many times before but cannot remember seeing so much wildlife. Seals galore, otters, dolphins and basking sharks, not to mention over 40 different bird species.
Fabulous clean and bright cottage. Upstairs velux gave great light and views.  Cottage was close to fab beach. Short walk to Scaranish and shop was good.
Tom Egerton – August 2020

We have had a great week in the cottage again this year and the weather has been very good.
Idris Crumlish - October 2019

Machair Cottage proved to be the ideal location for our stay on Tiree. Views from the cottage were beautiful and to have the beach so convenient to the cottage was a bonus, not that you are ever far from a beach on Tiree. The cottage was comfortable, and we had everything that we needed to make our stay enjoyable.
The local shop was very well stocked and only a short distance from the cottage.
Many thanks for allowing us the use of the cottage for our holiday.
Wilson Beggs - September 2019

We had a wonderful time in the cottage again this year
Rebecca Meek - August 2019

We have just had another great 2 weeks holiday in your house on Tiree. Do you have availability in August next year 2020 at all??
Richard Smith - August 2019

We had a relaxing holiday enjoying the views and walks around the island.
Enjoyed watching the seals. It was great to see basking sharks at Gunna Sound. We had a boat trip to Lunga and Staffa which was most enjoyable. It was great to be on the island for the Tiree Regatta. As members of the RSPB we visited two bird hides. We love the bay at Heanish and the cottage is well situated with lovely views out to sea.
We enjoyed some alfresco meals in the garden but the dining room was excellent for leisurely breakfasts or satisfying dinners with food from the local Co-op and shellfish supplier. We had wonderful steaks and roast meat from a local farmer. Oh , and local eggs were very tasty. The views from the bedroom were terrific. The living room was very comfortable for reading and knitting.
We would recommend Machair Cottage to friends and family
George Carson - July 2019

We had a lovely holiday on Tiree.  We have friends who live on Tiree so many days are spent with them and their families.  Many days spent on the beach.  This year we went to the Tiree Music Festival for the first time and enjoyed it very much.  We had 5/6 days of great weather so these days were wonderful on the various beaches around Tiree.
The absolute best thing about Machair Cottage is the location – so close to a perfect little beach and close to amenities like Co-op, ferry terminal.  Personally we also liked location as it’s near our friends in Scarinish.  Another brilliant thing about Machair Cottage is the views.  The fact you can view the sea from your shower is magical.  Also a great shower!
Good seating area outside, lovely sheltered bench against the side of the lean to – perfect when the sun is out!
Yes it met our expectations – everything was great
Sonia Summerville - July 2019

We had a lovely visit to Tiree and left the cottage in good condition, as we found it.
Thank you for letting us use it - the cottage and location were great
Anne Lumb – June 2019

We found the cottage clean and comfortable
Ian Maclean – June 2019

We had a great holiday. The beaches were lovely and free from seaweed and litter (Tiree cleanups are brilliant). We were able to use ‘our beach’ quite a lot this year, its so handy for the cottage!
The cottage was immaculate when we arrived, and we had everything we needed.
Ruth Chase – May 2019

We had a wonderful holiday in Tiree – such a magical island.  Highlights for us were Happy Valley, all of the beaches, the beautiful changing skies and the wildlife.
The features we most enjoyed about the holiday cottage were:
1. Location and views.  Really appreciated the cottage being located away from the main road and being positioned on its own across the machair.  Wonderful views in all directions.
2. It’s practicality.  The cottage is well maintained and easy to keep clean.  Good to have a washing machine and a nice warm shower.  It more than met our expectations and have already recommended it to others!
We really loved Tiree and certainly hope to return again in the future.
Jenny Stewart – April 2019

We’ve had a great week again thank you very much and no doubt I’ll be in touch again next year.
Stephen O’Brian – November 2018

Have left the house spotless for you as promised – had some fantastic weather, some good waves and some amazing photos (keen photographer).
Thank you so much for all your help and being so accommodating.
Richard Smith – October 2018

Clean and simple. Warm with all facilities.
We had good surf and wind so we’re happy.
David Smith – October 2018

We have just stayed in the cottage and all was good again….. Can you confirm that you have us booked in again for corresponding week next year please?
Richard Smith – August 2018

We had another lovely trip. Weather was a bit wild but that made for some brilliant waves and bodyboarding, also my daughter got really hooked on windsurfing and made great progress.
Any free slots again for August 2019?
Richard Meek – August 2018

We had a lovely time in Tiree and the cottage was lovely too. The bathroom and kitchen were very clean and the bedroom space was good.
The cottage was well equipped and close and accessible to local amenities. The DVD player and Wi Fi access was good.
We would recommend it.
John-Paul Seenan – August 2018

Great location with views from all aspects. Enjoyed watching the turning weather as it came in.
Great location, we have stayed at Kilkenneth and Balinoe frequently and we enjoyed its proximity to Scarinish and our family at Gott.
Really comfortable sofas and bean bags for kids, some places don’t have this. Separate dining room enabled us to have space to relax. The shower was a good size, plenty of hot water with good pressure. Really enjoyed the enclosed garden and sitting out in the evenings watching the swallows.
Well maintained throughout, everything we needed was provided.
Chris Murphy – July 2018

Close to ferry but remote enough to feel like you are far away
Close to the beach
Comfy bed and sheets/duvets smelt amazing
Claire O’Donnell – July 2018

We really enjoyed our stay in the cottage. We were very comfortable.
We were very impressed with the way the cottage was kitted out with everything you would need – we brought far too much. My husband and children enjoyed the big TV while I was enthralled by the location and the surroundings.
I loved the views, the closeness of the beach and the wonderful smell of the machair and the wildlife all about us.
Barbara Drummond – July 2018

We had an amazing week at Machair cottage. Firstly the weather was amazing the whole week. NO RAIN. The cottage is well equipped and very comfortable. Views from the cottage are fabulous in all directions.
Lisa Barclay – July 2018

We had a very enjoyable holiday on Tiree revisiting some of our favourite beaches and beautiful scenery. The cottage was very comfortable and is in a great location being close to a beautiful beach and within walking distance of Scarinish – bank, supermarket (Co-op), post office and hotel.
We had fantastic weather with wonderful sunsets almost every night and then beautiful skies till almost 1am. Even managed to see the sunrise on a couple of mornings. Although there were only 3 people in our party we liked the layout of the cottage which would be very practical for a party of 6 adults.
The cottage met our expectations and we would not hesitate to recommend it to others (have already passed on details to friends – while we were there on holiday). We will be back!!
Idris Crumlish – June 2018

The rooms are a great size and flexible for families, plenty of plates and cutlery. Relaxed atmosphere.
The cottage exceeded our expectations – the standard of everything was great, fresh and well equipped. We would certainly recommend to others.
Louise Kane – June 2018

We had a fantastic 2 weeks. The location of the cottage is ideal, not too far from the shop and close to a private beach. Its comparative isolation is perfect.
The cottage is fitted out to a high standard whilst still retaining some of the original features. We would recommend it without hesitation.
Ruth Chase – May 2018

Thank you again for letting us use the Cottage, we had a lovely time, very lucky with the weather – lots of walking and finished with a lazy day on the beach. Very friendly as well.
Martin Hartshorn – May 2018

We have had a lovely week here, thanks to our friends who were married on Tiree on Sunday.
Harriet Davidson – April 2018

We really enjoyed our holiday. The cottage was very comfortable and the location was great!
Alison McMaster – April 2018

Once again, thank you very much for the use of Machair Cottage. We had a fantastic week, and hope to be back next year.
Stephen O’Brian - November 2017

Great wee cottage and would definitely think of it again. I may well be in touch. Perhaps thinking of coming for the whole week next year, if my lodge rentals allow!
Fiona McPhail - October 2017

We had a great week - very windy but cottage in a great location!
Vivian Hynes - October 2017

We were working on the archaeological dig at Kirkapol so it was not a holiday as such. The emphasis on keeping the place clean was taken on board and we tried hard to keep it so. I think that if we had had awfully wet weather we could have used the outhouse to dry our gear, but as it was we did not need to. The floors were easy to sweep.
The beds were all very comfy and we were warm. The kitchen was well equipped and there were plenty of utensils (sometimes overlooked).
The location is fantastic and the views brilliant. So open. The cows added a certain amount of amusement as they tried to lick off my mirrors.
I would recommend this cottage to others.
Heather James - September 2017

Despite a rather wild and windy couple of weeks we had some lovely days too.

Explored some new bits of the island and really getting to grips with windsurfing. We had a beautifully still day last Sunday and we kayaked down the coast to land at The Green.

Anyway, we’d like to come again next year too, let me know availability - can we have two weeks again please?
Richard Meek - August 2017

Great holiday at Machair Cottage again.
Lovely scenery and wildlife right outside the doorstep.
Everything well presented throughout the cottage. Cottage clean and cosy with all mod cons necessary. Would recommend highly.
Lesley Ronald - July 2017

1. Location lovely esp. nearby beach
2. Well equipped cottage
3. All instructions clear and accurate.
We had a beautiful week there, and I would love to return one day.
Dolores Pittaway - July 2017

We had a really amazing time on Tiree!! We lucked out with the weather so managed kite & windsurfing back at our favourite spots as well as the usual beach time and cycling!
Our favourite things about Machair Cottage were the location: handy for shops, private, secluded garden (especially with wee ones), close to beach/coast and of course the amazing views!! It was also a lovely bright, cosy cottage and great to have 2 ‘public’ rooms. It definitely met our expectations and we’d recommend it to others.
Thanks again for your cottage - it was just super! (Watched masses of gannets dive bombing in the sea while we were eating our cornflakes!!! Quite a start to the day on that morning!)
Carolyn Cameron - June 2017

We had an absolutely amazing time in Tiree and a big part of that was the wonderful Machair cottage.
We didn’t get much sunshine on our holiday but that didn’t hinder things as we were in such a fabulous location. The cottage sits a meadow with a carpet of buttercups under foot; hares dashing back and forth and inquisitive sheep and cows coming to say hello. You are seconds away from a silver sand beach and a ten minute walk away from a pint of Tennents/Guiness, perfect!
The cottage was immaculate and extremely well kitted out, we would definitely book again if returning to Tiree in the future.
Thank you for letting us stay in your cottage.
Catriona Malecki - June 2017

Your cottage is lovely and Tiree is a stunning as I remember. The weather was fine and we missed the torrential rain elsewhere. The views from all the windows were wonderful.
Thanks and we hope to be back sometime soon.
Helen Howie - June 2017

Everything was wonderful.
If we were to return to Tiree we would not hesitate in returning to your cottage.
Sue Marshall - May 2017

Beautiful house in a beautiful setting just yards from the beach.
The house looks exactly as it does on the website and the instructions were helpful.
Tiree is a lovely island to visit but do go prepared for the weather, and the wind! We absolutely will holiday in Tiree again at some point in the future. It is perfect for a restful, relaxing holiday.
Lynda Dargie - May 2017

The cottage is lovely and beautifully positioned. The views from the bedrooms were stunning.
The cottage is well equipped and well presented - Thanks for your assistance with the cottage and ensuring we had a lovely holiday.
Katie Fawcett - April 2017

I thought I'd drop you a line to let you know what an amazing week we had in your beautiful cottage in Tiree.
We have visited Tiree on many occasions over the past few years however this was probably the best holiday so far to date.
It did help that there were 13 of my family in total staying in three properties across the island. The weather was fine and dry and although the sea is still a bit cold at this time of year it didn't stop the grandchildren from going out on their boogie boards or the dingy. This is a magical Island
on which we have built so many fond memories of love, togetherness and friendships.
Machair Cottage exceeded all our expectations as a holiday rental. It has been beautifully renovated and felt like home from home. It was spotless when we arrived and was fully equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The rooms are bright, modern and tastefully decorated.
The location of the cottage is perfect with just a short stroll over the machair to a beautiful sandy beach which our grandchildren loved.
I can't thank you enough for sharing your beautiful cottage with us.
Sharon Moore - April 2017

We had a very enjoyable 4 days in Tiree and the weather on the whole was good considering the time of year. The wind was fierce (ideal for watersports) which made walking difficult at times! We explored all of the island and enjoyed both the history and the birdlife.
The cottage was very comfortable and the views amazing. We got the electric fire out of the cupboard and used it in the evenings so we were very warm.
The position of the cottage was ideal- it seemed far from anywhere but just a few minutes from amenities.
I would highly recommend the cottage to anyone looking for somewhere to stay on the island.
Moira Wadsworth - March 2017

After visiting quite a few Scottish islands Tiree was the one we longed to visit and it did not disappoint, in fact it blew our hearts and minds. It really is a special island and as we did have 3 incredible days of good weather it seemed all the more magical. It’s the perfect place to cycle and walk, to explore, to let your mind go free and just wander and relax.
The cottage is heavenly and the perfect retreat. It has everything you need but the added extras of possibly the most picture perfect views from bedroom windows you will find, EVER! Uninterrupted views and uninterrupted sleep, what else could you ask for…
We can’t wait to return and found it hard to leave. The island, the locals, the views, the nature, the peace, the space and the perfect home from home to snuggle up in after a wild day out… It’s a special island and a very special cottage.
Nicola Richardson – October 2016

We liked the fact it was near enough to Scarinish but remote enough to feel like a proper holiday destination. We liked the fact that it had its own beach that you could walk to (never saw anyone else on the beach).
Lots of family games provided, which came in useful. Well stocked kitchen with lots of cooking equipment.
Machair cottage was everything we expected and would certainly return back in the near future.
Tracey Brown – September 2016

We love Tiree – third time of going. Whenever we discuss holidays with the kids top of the list is always Tiree. Cottage is fab, having the beach 200yds at the back is great as well as being so close to the co-op.
Cottage is very comfy with all the amenities you would expect. Views are fab, particularly from upstairs. Having the fenced area around the cottage leaves some room to leave stuff out to dry without the risk of animals eating something.
Richard Meek – August 2016

It would be great to have a full fortnight in one house and we had a great time this summer – we’d like to confirm our booking for 2 weeks in 2017…!
Murray Kerr – August 2016

Just a quick message to tell you just how much we are enjoying the cottage! The sun has finally appeared as well. We are all very impressed with the accommodation – it really is the nicest holiday property we have ever rented and Tiree is idyllic. Thanks so much.
Machair Cottage is well presented and a lot of thought has been put into providing everything you need for a relaxing family holiday. The cottage was comfortable, cosy, clean and tidy. We slept so well in the beds which had fresh new linen. We all loved the situation, enjoying trips to the beach across the machair for picnics and paddling. We made good use of the camping chairs provided.
We’ve had a brilliant holiday and will be back. Tiree is a wee piece of heaven.
Lesley Ronald – July 2016

The cottage was lovely and in an idyllic setting. We loved the proximity to beach and the feeling of seclusion even though there are few properties around.
We had a fantastic holiday and loved exploring for hours on end with the kids. We also loved the fact our kids could go out exploring themselves and they were so safe.
We loved the fact everyday we went to the beach to see seals. We had a fantastic time and will hopefully get back.
Staci Rice – July 2016

Had a lovely time exploring all the beaches. Machair Cottage is ideally placed with outstanding views. The cottage itself has everything needed in a holiday cottage and added to the enjoyable stay we had on Tiree.
We know several people who have expressed an interest in visiting Tiree and I would not hesitate to recommend your cottage.
Maureen Johnston – June 2016

The cottage was well furnished – not cluttered, and the beds were very comfortable. It met all our needs and was clean & tidy when we arrived. The garden grass was being cut as we arrived – that was good. The close location to a quiet beach was the best feature.
We would gladly recommend Machair Cottage to others. We hired bikes locally at a good rate and explored the island beaches. Also hired kayaks very easily which we had delivered to the beach next to the cottage.
Eleanor Crone – June 2016

Fantastic week on Tiree, spent the days on bikes exploring the beautiful beaches and enjoying the meadows full of wildflowers, the numerous birds, hares, seals and dolphins. Very relaxing island where everyone is so friendly.
The cottage is very well equipped and it was good to see so many items in the kitchen cupboards, spices, tea bags, oil, pasta etc, we left items for the next guests too. Good layout, great views, ideal location being near to the beach and away from the road.
Overall a great cottage and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Hattie Parker – June 2016

The position of the cottage is most enviable, situated on the machair with sea views from all windows.
It was wonderful to be able to stroll to the nearby beach in the evening and watch the dramatic views as the sun set.
Lucy Harvey – April 2016

Yes, the cottage met and exceeded our expectations in some ways – notably the light-filled upstairs rooms, with their almost panoramic views. The cottage felt very sturdy in the face of quite a gale on one particular day, and was well-equipped with games and wifi to keep us entertained when it really was raining stair rods. The ‘local’ beach was a super-easy walk, and we particularly enjoyed the hare and seal-spotting, as well as rock-climbing opportunities for our four year-old.
As for Tiree as a whole, we thoroughly enjoyed the beaches – a new one to visit every day. Salum was our favourite. The Co-op was very well-stocked, and a short walk from the cottage, too. Tiree is deserving of dark sky status, the clear star-filled nights were mesmerizing.
Visiting in lambing season was a treat – too many wobbly-legged little ‘uns to mention!
We would absolutely recommend both Machair Cottage, and Tiree, to others.
Vic Grimshaw – March 2016

Thank you very much, had a wonderful week of windsurfing, fishing, biking, golf and walking.
Machair Cottage was ideally located, great value for money and very well equipped.
Stephen O’Brian - November 2015

Had a great week on Tiree, this was our third visit to the island to have a week of kitesurfing and surfing. The location of Tiree always produces great conditions for this.
We found Machair Cottage to be in a perfect location for us, which also made it very peaceful and tranquil. With the cottage being set off the road this made it very quiet. We loved that it was on its own and had a stunning little beach right by it.
The cottage has everything you need and in great order, we found it very cosy inside.
Amy Kitson – October 2015

We loved our time on the island and very much look forward to returning. Loved the proximity to the sea. Cottage was comfortable and everything we needed. The lean-to was a helpful area to keep the bikes. Yes, met expectations and would definitely recommend it.
Rebecca Maguire – September 2015

Lovely relaxing holiday on Tiree, wonderful beaches and walks. Location and views from the cottage were fantastic. The house did meet our expectations.
Rachel Williams – September 2015

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Tiree. We found Cornaigmore Beach on the first day and revisited nearly every day afterwards - it was so peaceful and we were happy there for hours at a time - splashing in the sea, digging and playing tennis on the beach. We were lucky enough to see some seals and also whales and sharks from the ferry! The food at the Beachcomber cafe was delicious and we had to try the lobster from Sam's van which was a real treat.
The cottage was everything we needed and nice and fresh and modern too. It was nice to be walking distance from the shop and a beach. We would certainly recommend it.
Thanks for a great week.
Sandra Williams – August 2015

Back after another wonderful holiday, as the ferry arrived in Coll we were treated to 8 basking sharks swimming around it, just to finish things off. Waves at Crossapol were unbelievable on Friday.
Please let me know if we can book again for next August, I’m afraid we are hooked.
Richard Meek - August 2015

Cottage very nice – situation of cottage lovely.
Everything we needed to feel at home, decoration neutral, calming and uncluttered which didn’t make us feel like we were invading someone else’s home and sitting amongst other peoples memorabilia as is the case with some other holiday cottages on Tiree.
We would definitely recommend this cottage.
Val Done – August 2015

Thank you for the stay in your nice cottage. The cottage was clean and has the necessary equipment.
It was located in a beautiful area near the beach and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.
Robin Jareg – July 2015

We had another great holiday in Machair Cottage. Once again the cottage was spotlessly clean and very well equipped.
The location of the cottage is great with the beach just a short walk away and the amenities of Scarinish close by.
Jackie Mason – July 2015

Time on Tiree was spent touring island’s many beaches, walking, cycling and kayaking.
Machair Cottage – good location, only minutes drive from ferry terminal, walking distance from shop, large east coast beaches within easy ‘family’ cycle reach. Cottage fresh, clean and perfect for relaxing in – daughter loved rotating armchair. Wall fires in lounge and dining room ideal for taking chill off rooms in evening, velux windows great for light and warmth upstairs.
I would definitely recommend Tiree and Machair Cottage to others.
Les McDougall – July 2015

We had another fantastic holiday on Tiree. As before the cottage was exactly what we needed - perfect location and facilities.
Much to my disappointment, we'll not get the chance to head back next year, but will definitely keep your cottage in mind for future holidays.
Thanks again.
Nicola Nash – June 2015

The cottage is in an ideal spot for walks and bird and sea life.  It is also handy for the Ferry and the Co-op and still remote enough.
The cottage had everything we required and it was clean especially the oven/grill.  Well done Lorna.  The cottage was pleasant and uncluttered – just the way we like it.  It did meet our expectations and we would recommend the cottage.
Shionna Hannah – June 2015

Holiday sadly over, have fallen in love with Tiree. Hope to come back again to enjoy the beautiful beaches.
Maureen McCann – June 2015

Can’t change anything we said last year- we have rebooked (3rd year) for 2016 so that says it all!
Dave and Judy Gillis – May 2015

Our journey was good, arrival easy, access instructions clear.
It is in a beautiful spot and we were entertained by sheep and lambs all through the week. The beach, so close, was extraordinarily peaceful.
Penny Jonas – May 2015

We had a lovely week in Tiree thank you! Wish we were still there!
Did lots of walking and exploring. Really lovely island. Got around most of the island, had a lovely meal in the Ceabhar restaurant, seeked out the seal colony at West Hynish and had planned to hire some Kayaks but the weather didn’t really permit, we may have been blown to America! Every beach we found was amazing, visited the old chapel ruins – loved that particular walk.
Cottage was lovely – location was ideal. The walks and local information left in the cottage was great, thank you.  Views were amazing. Would recommend to others. Loved the island.
Beth Mallinson – April 2015

A lovely time in Tiree, an island we visit with our young family every year.
A very well equipped and well finished cottage.  It had everything we needed as a young family.  We loved the extras of great board games (for the wilder wet days) and being able to use the shed for wetsuits was fantastic.
A great location with a quick skip across the field to our own secluded little beach.
We would thoroughly recommend this cottage and definitely consider staying here again.
Very good communication and information on how to use everything within the cottage made our stay all the easier.
Kirsty Broadley – April 2015

The cottage was ideal for our needs and was very much to our tastes - clean, bright and modern and very well equipped. We particularly enjoyed the upstairs rooms and the views. I guess ideally the lounge window would be lower but I imagine with the walls being so thick that’s a pretty laborious and expensive job!! You told me that you were extending eventually by changing the lean-to into a room, which would be great as either an additional lounge or an extra bedroom.
The house was great for us.  We have stayed all over the islands all in all well over 30 times and your house was one of the best, we would definitely return and certainly recommend it to others without hesitation.
We had great weather 6 days of sun and one of mist so all was perfect, thank you for your time on the phone and your quick responses to my mails and most of all for sharing your home with us.
Richard Smith – April 2015

We had a great time in Tiree and thought the cottage was great. We’ve stayed in different accommodation previously, but this was the best.
We were there with part of a larger group staying in Scarinish for watersports. The conditions were varied, but great. One day we were out SUPing just in board-shorts, the weather was warm and the water glassy. Another day we managed to go SUPing, kite buggying, kite surfing and windsurfing all in the same day.
The cottage location is great, very private and yet just a walk away from the co-op, it has fantastic views of the Machair, and the ocean, it’s warm and cosy and a particular favourite was the shower. Hot, powerful and perfect after a day out on the water.
We highly recommend it and look forward to returning next year.
Dave Muir – September 2014

Had a great time; excellent weather; very relaxing. Lots of walking and cycling – enjoyed the wonderful beaches.
Best things about the cottage – close to the beach, great views, hares viewed from the window.
Close to the Co-op and ferry. Comfortable and clean.
Ian and Jenny Titley – September 2014

Splendid isolation, stunning beaches, lots of watersports, safe environment for the kids. Would go back tomorrow.
Cottage is great – perfect for holidays.
Richard and Becky Meek – August 2014

We had a wonderful time on Tiree and much enjoyed walking, beach combing and watching the varied wildlife and the changing skies during what proved to be all weathers. The local history centre An Iodhlann proved very interesting indeed with a good collection of local material to peruse and books to buy as well, would recommend at least one visit.
The location of the cottage was perfect with wonderful views from all windows. In the mornings, a brown hare regularly sat close to the fence washing himself and of course the sound of the corncrakes was very special to hear. The cottage was very cosy and well-equipped throughout.  Nothing was wanting in the kitchen and as it is within walking distance to the Co-op at Scarinish, we lived very well indeed.  The collection of games was also much appreciated during rainy times!
The cottage was as described and I would not hesitate to recommend it to others.
Bettina Hoppe-Glahome – August 2014

Had a great holiday, brilliant weather and thanks for a crackin wee house. Best features – position of the cottage, close to shore and Co-op!
Would recommend to others, nice size, all our needs for a holiday house were met.
Andy and Jane Clements – July 2014

We had a brilliant week, cottage was lovely and weather amazing!  We took surfing and SUP lessons with Gavin and John from Wild Diamond and also spent time windsurfing, cycling and just hanging out on the beach.
Machair Cottage was lovely, very well equipped and spotlessly clean.  Wifi was an added bonus as was the outdoor storage.  I would definitely recommend it to others and hope to return.
Mike and Jackie Mason – July 2014

We had a fantastic holiday.  The cottage was perfect and we had lots of fun exploring the island. We are already looking ahead to next year and would love to stay in your cottage again.
Graham and Nicola Nash – June 2014

We loved Tiree and Machair Cottage . The cottage is in a wonderful situation and the sea views are amazing.
We would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who wants an island holiday
Dave and Judy Gillis – June 2014

Tiree is just amazing, totally relaxing - we've truly had a wonderful holiday and intend going again soon, with the intention of staying in your cottage.
The main feature is the location, the best on the island, with what appears to be its own, mostly private beach, we saw no one at all the first week except cows and sheep!   Tony and I spent many happy and relaxing hours just plodding along the beach and on the rocks with them.  The views from the cottage are amazing.  The cottage itself has everything anyone could possibly need.
The cottage is comfortable and well equipped and it’s hard to think of anything it lacks.  We’ve already highly recommended it to friends who love Scotland.
We truly love it on Tiree and your cottage and its location on the island made it very special – we truly didn’t want to come home.   We anticipate returning very soon.
Tony and Pam Burn – May 2014

We had a wonderful holiday, many thanks for arranging it for us. The cottage was in a beautiful location, extremely well furnished and we had every thing we needed, a perfect place for a holiday.
The kitchen was very well equipped and everything which needed instructions had notes on how to be used which was very helpful.
We would all definitely recommend this cottage for a holiday destination.
Jane Tinsley – May 2014

We all had a fantastic time on the island and we loved the cottage. We all thought it was so delightful to have a gorgeous view from every window!
The shower was amazing and we found the storage heaters warmed up the house. We loved the Velux windows and found them to be very efficient at keeping the wind out! We got out every day and enjoyed lots of bracing walks to Scarinish and on beautiful Heanish beach.
All four of us love the cottage and will be recommending to friends and family! Lots of extra touches, like games, book and DVDs, plus the great advantage of broadband meant it was truly a home from home.
I'm already hoping to plan for another trip to Tiree next year! Thank you for providing such a super cottage.
Elspeth Norris – May 2014

Thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and loved the cottage – much better standard than I had expected or had experienced before on renting on the island.  All your hard work has been worth it and we would certainly recommend the cottage to anyone wishing to rent it.
Very clean and modern, close to beach and shop, warm and comfortable.
We did not have a vehicle but got around with dial-a-bus and a friend driving us to go to eating places and galleries.  Best eating place we  tried was Farm restaurant in Balemartine and the Blue Beyond gallery was my favourite gallery haunt.
Kate Oman – May 2014

Just to say we enjoyed our stay in Tiree very much. The cottage was excellent - all facilities expected were included.  We enjoyed the garden and living areas
I would highly recommend the cottage to others
William Campbell – April 2014

Had a great holiday weather was good most of the time - the week went so fast.  The cottage is in a great location near to the beach and shop and was what we expected.

Just spent a very relaxing week at Machair Cottage.  It provides good family accommodation, ideally placed for local shop and ferry pier.  It has wonderful views from the bedrooms and good walks from the door.
Internet access was a great plus point.
Thank you for allowing us to share your holiday home.
Wendy Price – September 2013

Our holiday on Tiree was very good and we enjoyed the freedom for our children. The best features of Machair Cottage are the location, views and access.
Kevin Storey – August 2013

The cottage is lovely and we had a great time from 4th August for a week. Not a rainy day and kids really enjoyed watching basking sharks in the bay.
Tracy Bridges – August 2013

We had a great holiday – the weather was fantastic.
The location was outstanding and convenient to Scarinish. It was also good to have the TV and Wi Fi with teenagers!
We really appreciated being able to borrow the bodyboards and beach chairs. Tiree is great for watersports and the terrain was great for cycling.
We would stay at Machair Cottage again.
Jane and Steve Taylor – July 2013

Tiree was fantastic as usual.
The best feature of Machair Cottage is the view. Loved the bench and picnic table – ate outside a lot.
This was our 9th or 10th trip to Tiree…we love the place!
Ruth and Colin Gilmour – July 2013

Had a brilliant holiday!
Cottage was well equipped, airy, light and modern!  Kids loved the Swivel chair in the living room! The best feature of the cottage was the sea view from the bedrooms.
We will be visiting Tiree again since family live here , it’s peaceful and the beaches are gorgeous.
Would definitely stay at Machair Cottage next time and have recommended to family.
Lianne McGarvie – June 2013

Enjoyed very much.  Different to other Scottiah islands – lovely beaches, great for the family.  Great location very close to a beach and on the Machair.
The cottage met our expectations – upstairs bedrooms are very comfortable with great views and excellent blackout blinds. Small island but plenty to keep us busy for a week – relaxing atmosphere.
Would recommend to others and would also stay at Machair Cottage again ourselves
Steve and Caroline Deykin – June 2013

We had a great time. The style and furnishings of the cottage are lovely and such a great setting and great weather.
We wished we could have stayed longer.
Graham and Lynn Shipp – June 2013

We had a really fab time.  The sand yachting is brilliant fun you really must give it a try.  We also had a go at surfing / body boarding which was great.
The weather was mostly good with a spot of gale force winds but didn’t stop us doing anything.  I even spotted a whale one day!
The cottage location meant it had incredible views as well as easy access to the Co-Op and hotel for evening meal – we particularly liked the round chair.
Ann-Marie Hudson – May 2013

Thanks for the use of your cottage, greatly enjoyed our visit to Tiree.
The cottage easily met our expectations and the best feature of the cottage is its location.
Glenn and Val Bates – May 2013

Thanks for a great holiday. We enjoyed the walking and bird watching and wildlife in general – explored most of the island.
The cottage was excellent for our  needs….we came on foot and wanted to be fairly near the boat and  shops… wanted a warm, comfortable place to stay.
Good position on the machair with sea views from every window – good for evening stroll to little beaches so near. With a telescope you can see black throated divers fishing from the bedroom window! Liked the 2 downstairs  rooms…..liked space and choice of 2 rooms to eat, write, read, relax in etc… the  place felt very comfortable and yes I would recommend it.
Margaret Bromley-Webb – May 2013

A big ‘Thank you’ for a super week at Machair Cottage!
The cottage is lovely. A true home from home. You must love going whenever you can.
We had a very good holiday experience and would definitely recommend the Cottage to our friends and other people.
Steve & Julia Whitby – April 2013

It’s a great cottage in a fantastic location. A real privilege to be able to sit in bed & see the sea out of both windows on both sides. Location is very child friendly in that the kids aged 6 & 9 could play freely outside on the Machair on their own with no worries & yet the beach is still close enough to walk to. The shop & hotel are also within easy child cycling distance.
Cottage is exceedingly well equipped for a holiday cottage. Kids loved the supply of board games. House stayed warm despite the unseasonal cold weather.
Probably the best holiday cottage we’ve ever stayed in. Thank you.
Liz & Wayne Bell – April 2013
