Windsurfing, walking, wildlife and art: our passions. We would love to share them with you.
The Byre at Millhouse previously operated as Millhouse Hostel. We have adapted it for single use and welcome groups and families of all sizes. The Byre (purpose-built and converted from the old farm steading) sits on the site of one of the oldest mills on the island and still features the iconic water wheel. Currently under restoration, we continue to run it whenever we can, and would be delighted to include a demonstration in your stay, when possible. We live on site, and grow produce, some of which may be available on a seasonal basis. Our aim is to create a space for you from which to enjoy the island, and would be delighted to help you make the most of your stay.
Please email us at millhousetiree@outlook.com for prices, availability and more information.
GROUND FLOOR:
Entrance is via a welcome porch, which leads into an open-plan kitchen/dining/lounge area with two hobs, an oven, a microwave, a large fridge and a separate freezer. The dining area consists of a family-sized dining table and a living area with sofas and a wide-screen TV. Also on the ground floor are two double bedrooms fitted with an overhead single; both rooms have their own sinks. There are 2 showers on this level and WCs, one of which is fully accessible. A well-equipped utility room and indoor drying area sits to the rear of the property, complete with washing machine, drying rack and exclusive access to outdoor drying facilities, which include a wetsuit rinse-off point and a large wooden wet-suit rack.
FIRST FLOOR:
Two warm, well-lit rooms, each with its own sink. These rooms will be set up according to the size of your party and could include a double bed or additional seating areas in one or both. We are happy to customise the space as much as we can. The rooms overlook the old mill, together with one of the best-known corncrake nesting grounds on the island. Black-out blinds allow for sleep during long summer nights, or, when open, star-gazing for the wakeful.
Purpose-built holiday accommodation, centrally located. The Byre at Millhouse is close to the main beach breaks and reefs. Externally, there is ample parking and dedicated cycle storage. There are picnic tables and benches on the west-facing patio, which are accessed through the living area and seating areas next to the millpond, for post-work-out respite or quiet contemplation.
We operate a 3 night minimum stay. Longer stays may be eligible for a discount; please email millhousetiree@outlook.com to discuss.
The car park is cobbled, but there is ramped access to the accommodation. It is otherwise wheel-chair friendly on the ground floor and we are happy to work with you to make the accommodation fully inclusive where we can.

Two large, flexible rooms which can be family-style double/singles or dormitory style with up to 6 single beds.
